Cortex is Dedomena.AI's data catalog and data space: the place where your data and services stop being isolated and become real business opportunities. This is where data — already validated and protected by the rest of the platform — is published, discovered, negotiated, and exchanged under agreed terms, with verified identity and traceability for every operation.

It is the module that makes it possible to share and monetize valuable information, even the most sensitive kind, with the legal and technical assurance that regulated sectors demand: every exchange is governed by a clear data contract, explicitly accepted by both parties, within a governance framework common to all participants in the data space.

Cortex's role in the platform

Cortex doesn't work alone. Before reaching the catalog, every dataset has already gone through AXON (connection, validation, and analysis) and, when needed, NUCLEUS (anonymization and synthetic data generation) and NEURONS (enrichment and insights). Cortex takes that work and turns it into an offer ready to be published, negotiated, and consumed: it's the entry and exit point to the rest of the data space, where the value generated across the rest of the platform becomes real exchanges between participants.

Data Space

This is the marketplace for publishing, buying/selling, and sharing data.

This capability gives you the opportunity to extract maximum value from your data. Publishing a dataset in DEDOMENA.AI's public catalog is very easy, thanks to an all-in-one guided user experience:

• As a provider, a participant can define the characteristics that best describe the data, apply policies and restrictions to it, and finally offer it openly for free or at whatever price they see fit.

• As a consumer, on the other hand, a participant discovers offers from other participants, along with the tools needed to negotiate automatically and formalize consumption from start to finish.

Governance and Regulatory Compliance

Cortex is the governance component and guarantor of regulatory compliance.

Our internal logic defines who can take part in a data negotiation and transaction, under what rules, and how the data space provides coverage for GDPR, the Data Governance Act, the Data Act, and the AI Act in every exchange.

Traceability, Audit, and Transparency

For the assurance and security of our participants, Cortex treats traceability and transparency as a regulatory necessity.

What evidence is kept of your identity, your publications, and your agreements? Or the origin and lineage of the data you want to acquire? This evidence can be consulted at any time, both for your own data and for what's available in our catalog.

To stay in control of what's happening and make the best decisions about your assets, Cortex offers easy-to-consult user interfaces and publicly available APIs to facilitate audits by our participants and by any bodies that require them, always upholding European privacy standards.

Interoperability

How is your identity and your catalog recognized outside DEDOMENA.AI?

By relying on open standards (DID, verifiable credentials, DCAT) instead of closed proprietary mechanisms, to guarantee automated interconnection and interaction with the most relevant public and private bodies at the European and international level.

Through Cortex, this is consolidated by linking DEDOMENA.AI to the GAIA-X Data Space network, as a verified participant capable of acting in a distributed way across Europe.
